Easy Basic Playdough

Squishy, squashy, squeezy. What can be more fun than a big pile of play dough on a rainy afternoon? What's more, it is easy to make at home and the kids can even join in the process. Here's an easy and inexpensive basic recipe to get you started.

You will need:

2 cups white flour
2 cups warm water
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 teaspoon vegetable oil
¼ cup of salt

Mix the ingredients together and place in a saucepan over a low to medium heat. Stir continuously until the mixture is smooth. Remove from the pan and knead until you get the right consistency. Allow to cool. The play dough will keep in a plastic container or bag for several weeks.

In my next post I'll give you some more advanced recipes, including no-cook play dough and even sparkling dough!
